About CEMH
The Center for Excellence in Mental Health (CEMH) is a not-for-profit, professional educational organization that was founded to train, support and build knowledge for mental health professionals.
Founded in 2020, CEMH is an association designed to be a hub for counselors in various practice areas.
We provide training, research and career opportunities via our state-of-the-art learning platform and community.
Why CEMH?
We have curated relationships with practitioners, educators, researchers and industry leaders to provide culturally inclusive and responsive trainings. As an CEMH member, you will enjoy access to monthly learning and member only events including access to a job board, member only trainings, health insurance and other benefits.
Affordability
Our commitment to training clinicians, educators, students and community leaders is paired with our dedicated to providing access. Our membership dues and program fees create access to clinicians, specifically Black, Indigenous People of Color, who often face barriers to accessing cutting edge, advanced training.
Community
We aren’t just a membership program, we actively foster a sense of community and cohesive identity in the mental health field. We promote community through mentorship, training, and other collaborative efforts. We know that the true value lies in the relationships and connections we have with one another.
Scholarships
Our goal is to develop scholarship programs that support students, BIPOC clinicians for our training programs and scholarships that create access to mental health care to underserved communities. Additionally, we have laid the groundwork to launch the Darrin K. Robinson Scholarship in 2021. This scholarship that is designed to provide counseling, jobs training and transitional support to non-violent offenders upon re-entry.
Social Justice Orientation
We believe that we have a responsibility to address our privilege and leverage it, dismantle oppressive systems and advocate for decolonizing the mental health field and therapy practices. We intentional create spaces that are safe for BIPOC, amplify BIPOC voices, and disruptor cycles of institutional and structure oppression, poverty, and discrimination. This is a lived, action part of our mission.
Career Development
We provide career development opportunities both within the organization as well as providing resources to help match employers with candidates.
